Kati Raatikainen: Poissaolo - demoversio prosessissa olevasta esityksestä
Vieressäni on aina ollut jonkin hahmon muotoinen tyhjä aukko.
Poissaolo on koreografi Kati Raatikaisen prosessissa oleva esitys, jossa hän tutkii henkilökohtaisten kokemustensa kehollistumista poissaolemisen ja saavuttamattomuuden teemoista, heijastellen niitä erityisesti suhteeseensa kumppanikoiransa Karan kanssa. Raatikainen on kiinnostunut ruumiillisuuden vuorovaikutteisesta luonteesta, yhteenkietoutuneista historioista, evoluutiosta ruumiin ilmentyminä ja "kanssakehkeytymisen" kysymyksistä.
Poissaolossa läheisyyden ja samankaltaisuuden ohella puretaan, miltä tuntuu olla saavuttamatta, jäädä yksin, olla eläimenä erilainen - vaan niin ihminen.
Raatikainen esiintyy yksin, kuljettaen matkassaan esityksestä poissaolevaa Karaa.

Poissaolo (Absence) - a demo version of a show in progress
There has always been an empty opening in the shape of some figure next to me.
Absence is choreographer Kati Raatikainen's work-in-progress performance, in which she explores the embodiment of her personal experiences on the themes of absence and inaccessibility, reflecting them, especially on her relationship with her companion dog Kara. Raatikainen is interested in the interactive nature of corporeality, intertwining histories, evolution as manifestations in the body, and the questions of becoming-with.
In absence, along with closeness and similarity, we unpack how it feels to not reach, be alone, or be different as an animal - so human.
Raatikainen performs alone, carrying Kara, absent from the show, on her way.

Seireenien laulu on feminiiniä ääntä ja ruumista esiintuova esitys, joka yhdistelee ihmisäänimaisemia ja tanssia. Humina Open Space -tapahtumassa koettava versio on lokakuussa ensi-iltaan tulevan esityksen prosessin avaus sekä ensimmäinen hahmotelma.
Esitys on vaiennettujen äänien puolestalaulu, -kuiskaus ja -huuto. Se on inspiroitunut seireeneistä, jotka filosofi Adriana Cavareron mukaan ovat "vaarallisimpia äänellisiä olentoja, joita länsi on koskaan kuvitellut." Kuuntelemalla seireenien lauluja sekä vaiennettuja feminiinin historian kaikuja, haluamme kutsua yleisön mielikuvittelemaan kanssamme eräänlaista utopiaa rajoittamattomasta feminiinisyydestä.

The Singing of the Sirens is a performance that brings forth the power of femininity, entangling human voices and dance. The version at the Humina Open Space will be a processual opening and the first draft of a performance that will have its premiere in October.
The performance is a song, a whisper and a shout on behalf of silenced voices. It is inspired by the Sirens, "the most dangerous vocal creatures that the West has ever imagined" according to the Italian philosopher Adriana Cavarero. By listening to the songs of the sirens and the often-silenced echoes of feminine history, we want to invite the audience to imagine with us a kind of utopia of unrestricted femininity.
