Open Space Performance Evenings
At the heart of Open Space is coming together around art, sharing, and discussing experiences and insights - together with the makers of art and the ones experiencing it. The evening's program includes an informal discussion facilitated by the Humina working group after the performances. Humina Open Space has an open call for the program for dance and performance artists. At Humina Open Space evenings, performing artists can share their work in a low-threshold setting, presenting their concepts, works, experiments, and works in various stages of development.

Anyone who wants to share a presentation and their own work can apply. A total of three artists or groups will share their work during the evening. This time we will make a light curation and after that we will make the selection of the final participants by lottery. We try to offer the space for artists who most lack possibilities to share their work in a dance space, as well as we wish to curate an evening with diversity between the performers. We encourage all kinds of professionals and people entering the profession to apply!
The maximum duration of the presentation/sharing can be up to 30 min. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion on the shared presentations facilitated by Humina members.
The size of the space is 60 m2. The space is lightly equipped. The floor is covered with black dance flooring, there is a simple sound system and lighting equipment. The lighting situation can be selected on the dim-bright axis, otherwise there is no possibility to create different lighting situations. The performer brings all the other equipment and technology they need. The facility is more or less accessible (there are some low thresholds), but the accessible toilet can only be found on the side of the hall leading through the yard.
For the audience there are chairs and cushions, which can be placed on one, two or three sides or around the space.
There will be a small fee paid for the artists, 300e/performance (the fee is the same even if there is one or more members in the group). The purpose is to offer a space for sharing, getting to know each other and community support. You can invoice the fee (incl VAT), or it will be paid as compensation for use (työkorvaus).
Sketches, demos, concepts, participative experiments, and presentations will be shared on Sat 26.9.2026 at 18.00-21.00 at Humina, Uutiskatu 2, Länsi-Pasila, Helsinki.
